Landscape Architecture & History

Landscapes are always changing and evolving because of the plants in them. Our interest in designing landscapes stems from wanting to create landscapes that will stand the test of time. We do this by utilizing the appropriate plants and providing landscape architecture with an understanding of how people will truly use each unique site.

One of our niches at Cole Surveying & Design is that we also have experience in meeting local Asheville landscape design, zoning and compliance code requirements in regard to landscape planting design for commercial and residential properties.

In addition, Hillary Cole has a strong background and extensive experience in working on Historic Landscape/Cultural Design projects. She was the designer for the Antler Hill Village and Winery project at the prestigious Biltmore Estate in Asheville, North Carolina. She has also completed various National Register of Historic Places nomination forms, all of which have been successfully accepted for placement on the National Register. Hillary has completed various Historic Architectural Inventory Reports and/or Surveys for North Carolina Department of Transportation related projects and City of Asheville related projects. She is passionate about history and would be happy to assist you with your historic preservation project!

A garden is a grand teacher. It teaches patience and careful watchfulness; it teaches industry and thrift; above all it teaches entire trust.
